Winter weddings hold a unique charm, and when coupled with the enchantment of the Christmas season, the result is nothing short of magical. On December 16, near Detroit, Michigan, I had the pleasure of photographing a stunning winter wedding that unfolded at Saint John’s Resort in Plymouth and continued its festivities at The Meridian in Farmington Hills. The bride’s vision was a classic winter wonderland, embracing the magic and joy of the holiday season.
Bridal Fashion
Jessica’s wedding look was a Disney x Allure Bridal dress, inspired by Belle from Beauty and the Beast. The dress featured rose lace details on the top layer and stamped roses in glitter on the second layer for depth and contrast. Paired with long Swarovski crystal earrings and a dainty bracelet, her accessories were a perfect complement to this statement-making dress.
Floral Details
Jessica wanted to embellish her floral bouquet as much as possible and had it full of sparkles, diamonds, and pearls. The bridal bouquet, filled with all-white roses, baby’s breath, and orchids, contrasted with the groom’s pocket square featuring red baby roses—a nod to classic love and Christmas spirit.
Embracing the Winter Essence
Since Jessica and Austin got married a week before Christmas, they wanted to use frosted accents, lots of candles, and other neutral color tones to embrace the feeling of the holiday season. Jessica and Austin aimed to embody the magic and joy felt during the holiday season, creating a winter wonderland atmosphere that resonated with the Christmas spirit.
Guest Entertainment
Jessica and Austin prioritized the enjoyment of their guests, ensuring a memorable experience. Welcome bags at the hotel, early rehearsal for out-of-town guests, and a provided shuttle demonstrated their commitment to guest comfort. During cocktail hour, a Saxophonist provided entertainment while guests enjoyed cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and conversation. Guests also could get their photo taken with the bride and groom in front of the custom monogram waterfall and receive a custom painting to take home from a live painter.
The entire wedding was a labor of love, with the couple dedicating a year to source materials and bring their vision to life. Every detail was meticulously crafted, from hand-flocked trees to glittered centerpieces, stubbed vases, and fluffed garlands. The months of preparation and vision board planning culminated in a display of creativity and commitment.
In conclusion, this winter wedding near Detroit was a celebration of love, creativity, and the magic of the Christmas season. From DIY details to enchanting decor and personal touches, every aspect was thoughtfully curated.
