A Tour of the Felt Mansion in Holland

Wedding Venues

Although I haven’t photographed a wedding here yet, I often dream about how perfect capturing a Felt Mansion wedding would be. Not only is it a beautiful venue, but it also has so much rich history and started with a love story. In the early 1900’s, Dorr Felt was drawn to the beauty of West Michigan’s coastline. He wanted to establish a place where his wife, Agnes, and their four daughters could have a place to call home in the warm summer months. Dorr spent three years constructing the thousand acre farm, paying attention to every detail that people still admire today.

In 1927, Dorr and Agnes’ daughter, Dorothea, was the first bride to have her wedding reception at the estate. Before gathering at the estate to celebrate with family, the ceremony was held at Gibson Church – a little white country church about two miles northeast of the Felt Estate. In 2010, the church was moved onto the estate and is known as the Chapel at Shores Acres. Dorr and Agnes’ legacy is preserved in the mansion and by all the couples that continue to have their wedding at the Felt Mansion.

Felt Mansion Wedding Accommodations

I love this wedding venue in Holland so much because of the variety of location options. You can choose to have your ceremony in the white chapel, the water garden, grand entry of the mansion or the gazebo. For your wedding reception, you can choose to dance under the stars outdoors or by candlelight in the ballroom. I also love that this venue gives your guests a one-of-a-kind experience. Guests can explore the grounds with a cocktail in hand and have so many beautiful photo backdrops to choose from.

The Felt Estate is nestled on 15 acres along the shore of Lake Michigan. This destination wedding venue in Michigan features the mansion, west lawn tent, chapel, water garden, and more.

Packages for your Felt Estate wedding range from $6,250-15,000. The Estate can accommodate up to 250 people. You can rent the estate for twelve hours or have exclusive access for two days and two nights. I couldn’t think of a more perfect weekend then spending it here and with the people you love most!
