Grand Rapid’s Best Fine Dining Restaurants

1. MDRD

With arial views of the bustling city of downtown Grand Rapids and the Grand River, this Spanish inspired restaurant sits on the 27th floor on the Amway Grand Plaza. You and your date can enjoy a variety of modern tapas, entrees and decadent desserts inspired by the city of Madrid. MDRD also has some of the most elevated and exquisite cocktails in the city.

I recently visited MDRD to celebrate my birthday and these were my favorite menu items! *photos were taken on my iPhone* The Tapas pictured are the Pulpo a la Gallega and Costillas de Cordero. The desserts pictured are the El Limon and Árbol de Caramelo. My cocktail was the MDRD Serie de Cócteles, which was a limited series cocktail feature. The views, food, ambiance and overall experience MDRD offers is, in my opinion, the best in Grand Rapids.

2. Mertens Prime & Mertens Rooftop

Mertens Prime is a chic restaurant and rooftop bar in downtown Grand Rapids. They serve delicious French classics and old-school cocktails in a historic building. Mertens Rooftop is one of my favorite spots to grab a cocktail in the spring and summer evenings. Here you can sip refreshing cocktails outside while overlooking miles of Grand Rapids from a high view point. These views and the antique seating also make a great backdrop for a photo opportunity!

3. Leo’s Seafood Restaurant & Bar

Voted the best seafood restaurant in Grand Rapids, Leo’s is known for its elegant ambiance and exquisite seafood. At Leo’s, you can enjoy a world-class wine list paired with fresh, classic dishes. My personal favorites? The steamed mussels, chargrilled sea scallops, and the butterscotch creme brulee!

4. The Chop House

If you’re searching for romantic mood lighting, a cozy setting paired with premium meats, the Chop House is the restaurant to be. Prepare to be pampered at this steakhouse downtown. Not only does the Chop House offer only the finest USDA Prime beef, but you can also indulge in La Dolce Vita’s dessert and cocktail lounge.
